YOUTH AND CULTURAL
COORDINATION ASSISTANT(S)
2 Term Positions: 1st position will end one year from start date
2nd position will end April 30, 2021
These term positions will be responsible for assisting with the planning and coordination of the community-based youth and cultural programs for youth (aged 9-18) living in the communities of Peerless Lake and Trout Lake. The youth-based component involves leading the programming for all sports and sports tournaments, outdoor activities and indoor winter activities. The cultural component of the position will include assisting with the coordination of events for life skills and culture within the community. Programming and events may include community gatherings for all ages. (i.e. Treaty Days, Winter Carnival, etc.) and events for specific age groups and/or for specific genders. The successful candidate(s) must be willing to participate in position related training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Minimum high school diploma with previous experience working with youth aged 9-18;
- Excellent planning, coordinating, time management, and organizational skills;
- Creative, innovative and a team player;
- Friendly, enjoys dealing with people, and is out-going in social settings;
- Works easily with others in small and large groups and possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Open minded, punctual, and able to assist whenever required;
- Able to work a flexible work schedule that includes evenings and weekends;
- Understanding of Indigenous cultural practices with the ability to understand/speak Cree (an asset but not required)
- Driver’s Licence – Class 05 (an asset but not required)
- Computer skills (MS Office, Word, Outlook, Power Point & Excel) are an asset;
- Must sign an Oath of Confidentiality prior to commencing employment;
- Must provide an RCMP Police Information Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check as a condition of employment.
