PTFN has a volunteer Fire Department. The department is comprised of community members from the Peerless and Trout Lake communities. All members have received adequate training. In the spring of 2019 the Trout Lake community was evacuated two times over four weeks due to fire. Approximately 300 members were sent to Edmonton until the fire was deemed safe. Peerless Trout First Nation was the only First Nation to receive the Alberta Emergency Management Award in 2019 for demonstrating exemplary leadership in a community.
