Do you want to use your Paramedic skills to support and strengthen a vibrant First Nation community? As a Community Advanced Care Paramedic (CACP), you will be an essential part of a dedicated healthcare team providing advanced care, emergency response, and patient education. This role offers the opportunity to work independently in a rural environment while building meaningful relationships and contributing to the health and well-being of the community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Advanced Patient Care
▪ Perform comprehensive assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examinations.
▪ Provide advanced pre-hospital emergency care, including but not limited to medication.
administration, airway management, and cardiac monitoring.
▪ Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with other
healthcare professionals.
2.Emergency Response
▪ Act as the first responder to emergency situations, delivering care in critical conditions
until transport to a medical facility is possible.
▪ Perform comprehensive patient assessment and provides advanced pre-hospital care.
▪ Operate and maintain emergency medical equipment and ensure readiness for
deployment.
3. Community Health Education
▪ Conduct community outreach and education programs on health-related issues,
emphasizing prevention and wellness strategies.
▪ Engage with community members to provide information on available healthcare services
and resources.
▪ Provide expert advice in developing PTFN MFR.
▪ Provide training, guidance, and orientation to MFR team.
▪ Advise on equipment / resource acquisition.
▪ Provides advice and resources on journey towards PTFN Ambulance Service.
▪ Collect and manages specimens for lab tests.
4.Collaboration and Coordination
▪ Work collaboratively with local healthcare providers, such as physicians, nursing staff, and
public health officials, to ensure continuity of care.
▪ Coordinate patient transfers and referrals to appropriate healthcare facilities as
necessary.
5.Documentation and Reporting
▪ Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation of care provided.
▪ Adhere to local, provincial, and federal regulations regarding patient confidentiality and healthcare standards.
6.Skills Development and Training
▪ Participate in ongoing professional development and training programs to maintain
certification and stay updated on best practices in emergency care.
▪ Mentor and train junior paramedics and community health workers as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
▪ Completion of an accredited Paramedic program.
▪ Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Paramedic, including remote or small-community experience.
▪ Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
▪ Non-restricted registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics.
▪ Valid Class 4 Alberta Driver’s License (Class 5 also required).
▪ Knowledge of EMS Clinical Practice Guidelines and Medical Control Protocols.
▪ Strong decision-making, communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and teaching skills.
▪ Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team.
▪ Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Cree culture, organizations, and communities.
▪ Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office or similar programs).
▪ Ability to speak and/or understand Cree is considered an asset.
▪ Access to reliable transportation to meet job requirements.

▪ Willingness to sign an Oath of Confidentiality prior to employment.
▪ Willingness to provide and maintain the following on an annual basis:
o Copy of valid driver’s license and consent for driver abstract access
o RCMP Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check (updated every 12 months)
o Child Welfare Record Check (updated every 12 months)
