As the First Nation approaches a month of heightened safety and health protocols
due to COVID 19, residents and members of Peerless Lake and Trout Lake must be
vigilant in slowing the spread of the virus. As we take a look at what has
happened over the last month, it shows how crippling this virus has been for
everyone around the globe. We have seen schools and businesses close; the
cancellation of air and land travel and people being asked to stay home and
social distance themselves from people they love. This is such an unprecedented
event that we have not seen in our life time, and effects everyone, everywhere.

Today, I ask that you continue to do what you have been doing in regards to all the
Health Protocols set out by the Nation, Province and Canada. It is not a time
to let your guards down, we/you need to keep this virus at bay as long as
possible. The communities need to work together and everyone has a role to play
in keeping everyone safe.

There have been may questions and concerns from residents on what is happening and
what is going to happen. Right now, we are following Alberta Health Protocols
and have added the curfew and travel restrictions between 8:00 pm and 6:00 am,
and this is what PTFN can enforce. Residents have asked me if they are quarantined
when we say to self-isolate and the answer is no, and here is the difference.

As told by the numbers, everyone really needs to follow the safety and heath
regimes put in place. I along with leadership are getting daily, almost hourly,
updates on what is happening within the province and around the world. We
continue to monitor and are always keeping the health and safety of resident’s
priority one. This event is not going away anytime soon and we are also
planning ahead to make sure that the Nation and the communities come out of
this as best as possible. As the Administrator and the Director of Emergency
Services so great to see how the communities pull together and work together to
fight the obstacles put in front of them, from Wildfires to Pandemics.

PLEASE TRY TO STAY HOME, PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING, WASH YOUR HANDS!!!
