MEMO

We are sending out this memo for information purposes, to let you know that we are closely and carefully monitor the progression of the public health actions regarding COVID -19, working with our partners in health.

Alberta’s public health officials are carefully monitoring the situation in Canada, China and around the world, and are ready to respond should there be any cases in this province. They are:

• working closely with federal, provincial and territorial partners to share information and assess potential health risks.

• ensuring our health system is ready to respond effect ively if needed.

• ensuring front-line health professionals have information about the virus so they can take recommended actions and promptly report suspected cases to public health officials.

Communication and a unified response to this newest virus are required within our Nation and Tribal Council area to minimize the impact on our community and our families. Please be assured that our Health Centre works closely with First Nations & Inuit Health Branch and Alberta Health Services to ensure that up to date informat ion and precautionary measures are being taken by our community when and as necessary.

Knowledge & Preparation continue to be your best defence!

At the moment, we ask that you focus on prevention: To help protect you and your family against all respirat ory illnesses, including flu and COVID-19, you should practise additional preventive health measures, including:

regular cleaning and disinfecting of common objects and surfaces social distancing (not attending big group events)

proper diet, exercise and sleep

staying home when we’re ill (self-isolation) to slow the spread of the flu bug! And,

Practice self-care, in particular rest and avoid contact with others until the symptoms have resolved.
